The Gentilly Ridge contains pre-flood mid-century and older homes with elevated foundations and structural characteristics that require proper assessment before additions are designed. The post-Katrina rebuilt areas have conventional slab construction that provides a more predictable addition base. Orleans Parish handles all permitting for Gentilly additions. We work throughout all of Gentilly with experience in both housing contexts.

Yes. We serve Gentilly homeowners with home addition services throughout the neighborhood. We work on both the older homes along the Gentilly Ridge and the post-Katrina rebuilt properties in the areas that flooded in 2005.
Homes along the Gentilly Ridge were built on higher ground and survived the 2005 flooding. These properties are typically mid-century or older construction with raised foundations, older framing systems, and construction characteristics that require careful structural assessment before any addition is designed. Post-Katrina rebuilt properties throughout the rest of Gentilly are typically slab-on-grade with conventional framing — more predictable structurally but sometimes on lots where the rebuild consumed most of the available square footage within the setbacks. We assess each property individually to understand what it can support.
Yes. We manage all Orleans Parish permitting and inspection coordination on every Gentilly addition project, including all required inspections through final completion.
Yes, particularly along the Ridge. These foundation types require specific tie-in details for additions that differ from slab construction. The addition needs to be designed to account for any differential settling between the existing raised structure and the new addition, and the transition between the two needs to be properly detailed to prevent moisture infiltration and structural stress over time. We’re experienced with these details and include them as standard practice in Ridge property additions.
